Moogfest attendees are invited to explore music generated from plants’ communication with virtual synths and sample based environments. Data Garden artists share new software they’re developing to produce bio-generated digital art. The atmosphere of the workshop is an open studio.

Guests are encouraged to bring instruments to record and contribute to the evolving soundscape.

** If you successfully register for this workshop, please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the session. Those not in attendance 5-minutes before the session begins, may forfeit their spot to the next person on the waitlist.

Jon Shapiro

Jon Shapiro is an artist exploring the intersection of music and biofeedback. He joined Data Garden in 2013 and is currently an artist in residence at Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center. He collaborates with engineers and musicians to develop new ways for plants to produce music. As a producer he is interested in emergent feedback loops between plants and the social spaces in which they perform.
