Devonté (Dev) Hynes is a producer, songwriter, and artist based in New York City. He has written and produced songs for a wide range of artists including Solange Knowles, Florence and the Machine and Tinashe. Under the moniker Blood Orange, Hynes has released two albums, Coastal Grooves and Cupid Deluxe, on Domino Recording Co. Last year, he scored the film Palo Alto, written by Gia Coppola and written by James Franco, and was a speaker at the 2014 TED conference in Vancouver. Recently, Hynes wrote and produced “All That” for Carly Rae Jepsen, the second single from her album, which they debuted together on Saturday Night Live last April. As Blood Orange, Hynes gravitates more toward R&B and electronic music while hanging out in the seedier districts of the Minneapolis Sound. Hynes and Blood Orange’s penchant for descending melodies that linger over past relationships illuminates an underlying concern with wrenching slum beautiful, danceable truth out of fleeting love and flickering hope.
